The vehicle itself a 1971 XY Fairmont which has had a 351 Windsor Shaker Transplant was found in Te Aroha were it had spent the last six years in storage. The vehicle has its own story as the owner lost his brother to suicide and in recent years two nieces. Therefore the owner was highly motivated to support the project so he heavily reduced the price of the car as well held the car until funds could be raised to finalize the purchase.
The vehicle had a lot of work done to it already including the engine transplant, dart heads, extractors, 9inch LSD, sways bars, twin exhausts, GT Rear spoiler, Bathhurst globes and Hurst quick shifter fitted before storage. The car body was not mint but gave us a strong base to work with.
We have started to strip the vehicle in preparation for Soda Blasting and panel paint. It is our intention to re skin all four doors, replace the sills, rear qtr panels and remove the sunroof as well as take the car back to bare metal in the next month.
We will update the progress of the vehicle on this site monthly and provide pictures of the work being undertaken.
